How do I register?
Use the online registration form to register. You will receive an email when you are shortlisted, upon which you will need to pay the camp fee to your GLUG representative.

Does registration confirm my seat?
Registration is the first step. We shall shortlist participants once registration ends. Shortlisted participants need to pay the camp fee to confirm their seats. Seats shall be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend paying the fee as soon as you are selected.

How are participants shortlisted?
The general selection criteria we follow are -

1. Preference will be given to existing GLUGS. Specific quota has been set for GLUGs based on the strength and activities they were carrying out. FSMK Camp is a platform for the consolidation of GLUG activities and further expansion of FSMK by forming new GLUGs. We intend to build new hactivists strong at technical skills and clear about the ideology of free software to become free software evangelists.

2. Preference will be given to second-year students, the reason being those students can go back to their respective colleges and coordinate GLUG activities. Third/fourth year students might get busy with placements or project work, which may bring down their contribution to their GLUG and the free software community at large.

3. Preference will be given to girl students. We would like to enable camp as a platform for more girls to get introduced to the world of free software and philosophy of free software to bridge the growing gender gap.

4. A few seats are reserved for students from economically and socially backward backgrounds.

Should we bring our laptops?
Yes, it is preferable that you carry your own laptops. If you are unable to bring one, you may use the lab computers at the college.

What other software/hardware should we come with?
There are no prerequisites as we will be providing you with a GNU/Linux based operating system with all required software pre-installed and guide you through installation. For the hardware track, all requisite components and equipment will be provided.

What about food?
You will be provided with all four meals (and accommodation) during the course of the camp.

Where will we stay?
You will be provided accommodation in college hostels.

What will I need to bring to the hostel?
Here's a non-exhaustive checklist we've made for you -

Bedsheets and blankets
Pillow/air pillow
Water bottles
Electronics: laptops, chargers, phones, powerbanks, power strips (extension boards)
Internet Dongles (for backup)
Mosquito repellant
Padlocks for hostel rooms

For fun, we also recommend -

Footballs, basketballs, cricket equipment, etc.
Guitars and other musical instruments.

Will I get a certificate?
Yes, participants who attend all seven days of the camp will be given a certificate.

What else does the registration cost include?
The registration fee includes the cost of the workshop, certificate, and a Free Software kit which includes an FSMK T-shirt, a CD containing a GNU/Linux operating system, stickers, etc.

Do I get a refund in case I don't attend the camp?
No, the registration fee is non-refundable, as we plan our resources according to registrations.

What happens after I attend the camp? Are there more things I can do with FSMK?
Yes, the camp is just the beginning. FSMK will, with the cooperation of you and your friends, set up a GNU/Linux Users Group(GLUG) in your college, if you don't have one already. From then on, we will help you hold regular events in your college with help of your department/college. FSMK also holds other events, celebrations and hackathons that you can participate in. Apart from this, we hold free workshops and sessions in Sunday School on a regular basis.

We also invite you to join our online discussion platform, FSMK Discuss where you can talk to FSMK members and receive alerts for FSMK events.
